Day 16


"They were all trying to frighten us, thinking, 'Their hands will get too weak for the work, and it will not be completed.' But I prayed, 'Now strengthen my hands.'” Nehemiah 6:9
Apart from setting all the doors in the gates, the wall is repaired and the all the gaps are filled! Upon hearing this, Sanballat, Tobiah, Geshem and the enemies of the Jewish people continue to try and intimidate and destroy Nehemiah. The next tactic of the enemy is to pull him away from the work, isolate him and kill him (see John 10:10). Messages are sent to Nehemiah trying to persuade him to go down from Jerusalem into the valley of Ono. With false rumours and lies about Nehemiah’s motives, Sanballat seeks to get Nehemiah to leave his place of security by reacting to the lies and leaving his work. Nehemiah recognises what is going on and prays that the Lord would strengthen his hands to continue the work.
Once again, the Lord is exposing the tactics of the enemy in our lives. Satan seeks to pull you down! He will try and intimidate you and isolate you by lying to you, distracting you and drawing you into the valley and away from your security in God and with His people.  Wolves attack the sheep that are alone and away from the flock. Sheep that graze in the valley, on the plains are exposed, vulnerable and easy prey. Child of God, don’t allow the enemy to deceive you and pull you down from your high place in God and in the Church. Don’t allow bitterness, depression, unforgiveness and the lies of the enemy to isolate you from God’s people. If you realise you are in the valley, pray that God would strengthen your hands to fulfil His purposes for your life. If you have been isolated from God’s people and are walking in the valley, run back up into fellowship with God and your church family. Our security is in God and with His people. May God strengthen your hands today!

„Denn sie alle wollten uns furchtsam machen und dachten: Ihre Hände werden schon ablassen von dem Werk, und es wird nicht vollendet werden! — Nun aber stärke du meine Hände!“ Nehemiah 6,9

Abgesehen davon, dass alle Türen in den Toren eingesetzt werden, ist die Wand repariert und alle Spalten sind gefüllt! Als Sanballat, Tobija, Geschem und die Feinde des jüdischen Volkes dies hören, versuchen sie weiterhin, Nehemia einzuschüchtern und zu vernichten. Die nächste Taktik des Feindes ist es, ihn von der Arbeit abzuziehen, ihn zu isolieren und zu töten (siehe Johannes 10:10). Botschaften werden an Nehemia geschickt, um ihn zu überreden, von Jerusalem in das Tal von Ono hinunterzugehen. Mit falschen Gerüchten und Lügen über die Motive Nehemias versucht Sanballat, Nehemia dazu zu bringen, seinen sicheren Ort zu verlassen, indem er auf die Lügen reagiert und sein Werk verlässt. Nehemia erkennt, was hier vor sich geht und betet, dass der Herr seine Hände stärken möge, um die Arbeit fortzusetzen.

Wieder einmal enthüllt der Herr die Taktiken des Feindes in unserem Leben. Satan will dich niederreißen! Er wird versuchen, dich einzuschüchtern und zu isolieren, indem er dich anlügt, dich ablenkt und ins Tal zieht und dich von deiner Sicherheit in Gott und mit seinem Volk wegführt. Wölfe greifen die Schafe an, die allein und von der Herde entfernt sind. Schafe, die im Tal und in den Ebenen grasen, sind ungeschützt, verletzlich und leichte Beute. Kind Gottes, lass dich nicht vom Feind täuschen und von deinem hohen Platz in Gott und in der Gemeinde herunterziehen. Erlaube nicht, dass Bitterkeit, Depression, Unversöhnlichkeit und die Lügen des Feindes dich von Gottes Volk isolieren. Wenn du erkennst, dass du im Tal bist, bete, dass Gott deine Hände stärkt, um seine Ziele für dein Leben zu erfüllen. Wenn du von Gottes Volk isoliert warst und im Tal wanderst, laufe wieder hinauf in die Gemeinschaft mit Gott und deiner Gemeindefamilie. Unsere Sicherheit ist in Gott und mit seinem Volk. Möge Gott deine Hände heute stärken!

Day 13

“When Sanballat heard that we were rebuilding the wall, he became angry and was greatly incensed. He ridiculed the Jews, and in the presence of his associates and the army of Samaria, he said, ‘What are those feeble Jews doing? Will they restore their wall? Will they offer sacrifices? Will they finish in a day? Can they bring the stones back to life from those heaps of rubble—burned as they are?’ Tobiah the Ammonite, who was at his side, said, ‘What they are building—even a fox climbing up on it would break down their wall of stones!’” Nehemiah 4:1-3   We have seen on day 7 and 10 what the enemy tries to do, to stop God’s work. Day 10

“But when Sanballat the Horonite, Tobiah the Ammonite official and Geshem the Arab heard about it, they mocked and ridiculed us. ‘What is this you are doing?’ they asked. ‘Are you rebelling against the king?’ I answered them by saying, ‘The God of heaven will give us success. We his servants will start rebuilding, but as for you, you have no share in Jerusalem or any claim or historic right to it.’” Nehemiah 2:19,20 When we pursue our God-given vision, the enemy will seek to dissuade us by sowing doubt, intimidating us, and questioning our motives. In effect the enemy seeks to draw our attention to ourselves so that as we focus on ourselves and our own limitations, we lose focus of the One with whom all things are possible.
